I’m a few days late with this post. Things have been busy with visiting family for the holidays, and we’ve been dealing with various house things since we moved. Of course, those are just excuses, since I’m managing to write this while I have a cold.
Some people may have noticed that I didn’t write a reflection post at the half-year mark. Since my position was made permanent, I’ve been working on more projects, some of which have been longer term. I just felt that there wasn’t enough for a standalone post, so I’ll write one in June.
In the meantime, here’s the blog year in review.
Posts
With only 6 posts, 9,079 words is 1,513 per post, definitely more per post than last year. For comparison, last year’s 8 posts had 10,323 words for an average of 1,290 per post.
I didn’t do a half-year reflection post, nor do any topical posts. I was going to do one on “how to get the best support”, but thought there wasn’t enough for a blog post, more like a social post.
Somehow, the Tracking Your Work post is still garnering thousands of views. The one about moving from Literal to TheStoryGraph didn’t get any comments, so I’m a little surprised by the number of views.
I’m also glad to see the number of views my latest Letter of Thanks got, but disappointed by the low views on my latest reflection. I clearly need more enticing titles.
Views & visitors
With the popularity of the Tracking Your Work post waning, the views and visitors numbers are more “normal” this year.
Ignore the percentages this year since it’s comparing it to 0 with the change in hosting providers. (Check out last year’s Blog in review post for some details and all time (15 years!) statistics.)
The 6,211 views is 33% less, and 4,811 visitors is 32% less compared to last year, but 15% and 24% more (respectively) compared to two years ago. Not bad considering I posted less this year.
Unlike last year, January was the highest month, but again this is more typical. May was still fairly high with the publishing of my letter of thanks.
As usual, here’s the country map just because it’s included. Even less skewed towards the US than last year interestingly.
Happy New Year
It feels like 2025 had a lot of ups and downs for me, so hopefully 2026 is more peaceful.
