Batch Record Editing Processes Breakout Group Notes

These notes are a bit disparate, but here’s what I got in terms of notes for the breakout session.

  • global updates
  • vendor records
  • marcedit edits before loading
  • load tables/profiles: pre-define templates to be applied to batches of records e.g. publisher number in 001, might match and overlay or not; can use list to isolate sets of records
  • might split into smaller batches
  • some ILS may not allow granular isolation of records
  • want to proceduralized, but vendor may change the way they catalogued
  • can use marcedit
  • whether even load? when have discovery layer e.g. ebook packages
  • search criteria may be different
  • what’s the difference between input and output
  • patron data: come up with a way to identify and de-dupe
  • openrefine for editing patron or organization data
